I remember my freshman year of college being pretty stressful.  It was leaving home for the first time, being denied the chance to get into the sorority that my mom had been part of, gaining what turned out to be the freshman forty instead of the freshman fifteen, and generally feeling out of place and not knowing where to fit in.  But other than those things, my first year of college at the University of Nebraska was great!

I ran across a list today of 50 colleges and Universities with happy freshman.  Did Boise State make the list?

The school with the happiest freshman is Yale, according to Collegechoice.net.  Yale retains 99 percent of it's freshmen and has a staff-to-student ratio of 6:1.  Wow!  The architecture is amazing too, and there are a bunch of secret societies there that keep school interesting.  If only we were all smart and rich enough to go to Yale.

Boise State isn't listed anywhere in the Top 50 that I saw, but Virginia, Florida, Notre Dame, Duke, Princeton, Stanford, and MIT are some that made the list.  My Cornhuskers aren't on the list either.  Apparently there are some other freshman feeling a little detached like I did.

No matter where you go to school, you just have to make the most of it, right?  I was a study nerd that got straight A's and two B's over four years (as you can see I've let the B's go....lol), and while academics are part of the college experience, I didn't feel like I really made the most of school until my junior year.  That's when I became more balanced with extra-curriclulars, fun relationships, and more confidence overall.  If you're starting fast, you're happy, and school is great, good for you!   But if the freshman year is challenging, hang in there young Broncos.  It gets better.
