I've done yoga before, but it's always been either on my TV or on my Kinect. And it was never this hard.

I found a great deal on Groupon for eight classes for only $23. The studio offers a variety of classes so I was super stoked to start my Yoga classes. But just to be safe, I decided since I'd never taken an actual class I should start at the beginner level. I had no idea what I was in for.

The class first of all is packed in this tiny room with nineteen people plus the instructor so I only had enough room as the mat I was on. But whatever I'm sure that's normal in most studio's so I ignore it. We get started and it's not too bad. Pretty much what you would assume yoga would be, a lot of stretching and breathing which was nice. And then the pace picked up!

We were going so fast that I was having a hard time keeping up with what the instructor was saying and it didn't help that the instructor kept saying left when she meant right. Which moved me into some pretty strange positions. So here I am standing with my hands at heart center, I'm out of breath. Then I was handed a strap. What's the strap for?

I seriously could not think of one thing until the very serious yoga lady next to me lifts her leg with it. Then it clicked, "Oh right, it's because I'm not flexible enough to move my leg in the positions its suppose to be." Hence the strap. I start moving my leg into the position the instructor tells me and then I slip. Yup it happened, I was slipping and falling on the terrifyingly serious yoga lady next to me. Yup not kidding! I'm that yoga person.

She actually had moved her mat back sometime during the class to get more space so instead of knocking her over I just landed on her mat. Which was still awkward because I tend to laugh when I'm nervous making the situation worse. After getting a very intense glare I went back to my mat and finished the class.

It was over-all harder than I thought it would be. I was so sore for two days afterwards! Never thought that stretching could make me sorer than strength trainer workouts, but it did. In the end though, I will be returning for my next Yoga class and possibly fall again, but it's a chance I'm willing to take.
