Do You Give Spankings, Timeouts or Both?

I feel sorry for our oldest son.  When he was a little kid when he got in trouble he got a spanking. But it didn't take very long to figure out that he hated getting time outs more than he hated spankings. Yes, he would rather get a spanking than a time out. So spanking began and ended with Jordan. None of our other kids ever got spankings because he proved that getting time outs was more effective, plus I really didn't like spanking him.  Besides, he's 25 now and 6 foot 5, so it would suck if he decided to pay me back.

This little kid is just like our son. What about you and your kids?  Did you give spankings, timeouts or both?  My parents regularly beat me and my brothers and sisters.  My butt still hurts from time to time if the weather gets cold.
