It's no secret that more people are moving to the Treasure Valley. With more people, does that mean that we should be worried about more crime and criminals moving into Idaho?
Here's what local law enforcement is doing to handle more people and perhaps more problems. Recently the Idaho Statesman interviewed several local law enforcement officers. Here's a look at what they found out.
Police Departments in Boise, Meridian, and Ada County Sheriffs Office are looking for officers to hire. Boise would like to add 35 officers in the next few years. Meridian and Ada County have several hires working there way through the hiring process.

Law enforcement agencies have had to adjust how they react to calls. Some departments will not respond to a nonserious call because of the lack of a workforce.

Community policing efforts suffer when officers are too busy to be proactive in the communities.

Officials believe hiring more officers and working within their communities will help ensure a safer Treasure Valley.
