There's freedom in riding a motorcycle.

That's the feeling that a Boise crowd wants to give to Cpl. Kevin Holtry, who was critically hurt last year in the line of duty.  In case you missed Nicole's blog yesterday, here's how to help that GoFundMe campaign.

Cpl. Holtry has been paralyzed since the shooting last fall, and he lost one leg because of the injuries.  It happened November 11th, and the suspect was killed in the shooting that injured two Boise police officers, including Holtry.

Now a Treasure Valley business is leading the effort to give Cpl. Holtry a pretty amazing gift.  The goal is to get officer Holtry back on a Harley!

A modified motorcycle would make life easier for him, and more fun too.  High Desert Harley Davidson set up the GoFundMe account, with the goal of retro-fitting the motorcycle so he can control it with his hands and arms, and they need $65,000 to do it. Once they modify the Harley, the gears, clutch, and brakes will all be controlled by arms and not legs.

It's not every day that we have the chance to directly thank police officers for the work they do and the sacrifices they make, but this is one of those opportunities.  They're encouraging businesses to get involved with the contributions as well as individuals, and you can click HERE to add some funds to the total and get Cpl. Holtry the motorcycle freedom that he deserves.

High Desert Harley Davidson is also planning a fundraising event for Cpl. Holtry on June 17th, and they're accepting donations for that event now.  Just drop those by High Desert Harley Davidson in Meridian.

Thanks Cpl. Holtry, for all you've done in your 17-year law enforcemnt career.  Now the Treasure Valley is doing something cool for you.
