Congratulations Idaho... or should I say congratulations to all of us Idahoans who live in this great state. Keep in mind when the headline says richer life, that doesn't necessarily mean rich as in money.

According to Money magazine Idaho made yet another top ten list, and I for one don't agree.  This really is one of those lists where I think we should be rated higher.  Idaho gets high rankings for low priced housing and safety, but we don't score so well in jobs and income, so that is probably what kept us out of the top 5

If you are wondering the criteria to base the national rankings, GOBankingRates surveyed all 50 states and Washington D.C., analyzing 12 data points that served as determining factors in the ranking.  Here are factors:

(1) median household income

 (2) June 2016 preliminary unemployment rates

 (3) median home listing price

(4) mean effective state property tax

 (5) state sales tax rates in 2015,

(6) grocery index

(7) annual child care costs for an infant and a 4-year-old,

(8) school district grades

(9) average family health insurance premium

(10) employer health insurance contribution

(11) annual violent crimes per 1,000 residents;

(12) annual property crimes per 1,000 residents
