City of Boise to Test Downtown Curbside Pickup

Kudos to Boise for trying to find a much-needed solution to this downtown problem!

If you've ever been downtown for a night of socializing, you may have found that after you call your ride-share, you end up needing to meet them a few blocks from where you were located due to them not having a spot to pull over.

Certain areas of downtown are so busy, that when ride-shares and taxis attempt to pick up patrons, it ends up blocking traffic. Because of that, the Boise police stopped letting ride-shares pick up at specific locations. While it makes sense, it's never fun trying to figure out where the heck your driver is when you're tired, drunk and in heels. This situation turns more into navigating a war zone if you happen to leave when the bars are closing.

But the city of Boise is aiming to change that. KTVB reports: 

Starting Friday, April 6, and lasting through Saturday, April 28, one curbside of a city block stretching from 5th to 6th streets on the south side of Main Street will be dedicated to pick-up and drop-off. The zone will be in effect between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays - right by the most popular bars.

This can only be a good thing, right? I've chased down many an Uber trying to get home responsibility.This "zone" could encourage more people to find a responsible way home and ultimately save lives. If anything it gives us an excuse to spend the night drinking so we can test out the new zone.
