I love to read with my son, Cooper. He's going to be three years old this spring and he's really getting into books and using his imagination. It's no surprise that one of our favorite authors right now is Dr. Suess. He wrote several of the best selling children's books of all time and is still celebrated for his work today.

Dr. Suess published his first book in 1937 after working as a cartoonist for Vanity Fair and an illustrator for various advertising campaigns. His books have obviously lasted the test of time because my husband and I read the same books as kids that we read to our little guy today. The words in his book are simple enough for Cooper to understand and he loves the rhyming. Our favorites are "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" and "Oh, The Places You Will Go".

March 2nd is Dr. Suess' birthday and people all over the world are gathering to celebrate the beloved author, including right here in the Treasure Valley. From 5:30 to 7:30pm on Tuesday, February 27th, Garden City Public Library at 6015 N Glenwood Street will be hosting a Birthday Party for Dr. Suess. Stop in with your kids for cupcakes and fun Suess-style activities and to read some of their favorite books. There will also be crafts and games. Costumes are encouraged but not required.
