This best of list I love. After we left Idaho 12 years ago we moved to the number 1 rated city to get your car broken in to. There is a new list Boise tops that we all should be grateful we are on.

Luckily worrying about your vehicle being broken into isn't the biggest worries for Treasure Valley families. According to SafeCoinInsurance.com Boise ranks number #11 on mid size cities least prone to car theft. No one is saying that it's the safest city where you don't ever have to lock your doors or even take care of your cars security. It's just a nice way of saying..hey at least we aren't San Francisco and the Bay Area that ranked as the WORST in the US for car theft.

In 2015 only 132 cars were lifted with in the city limits. For a population well over 216 thousand this is a great number to have. Other cities that made the list: Yonkers New York, Laredo Texas, Irvine California and Fort Wayne Indiana.

A few keys to making your vehicle safe and not susceptible to theft:

  • Never leave your keys in the ignition. You are not that busy you that you can't take the keys out of the car. I mean come on lol.
  • Lock your doors, windows and trunk when ever you leave.
  • Park in a secure area every time you park. Choose a highly visible place.
  • Have your VIN number etched into your car. In the old days it was just placed and slapped on a sticker. Stickers are too easy to peel off.

Another easy way of making sure your car wont get stolen...leave it in your garage and do what many Boise locals are doing ride your bike to work. :) - JD
