When you have a guy who runs the ball 144 yards and pops in a couple of touchdowns, you have a shot at beating a Nationally Ranked team.  That's only part of the story in last night's upset of Boise State over #16 Fresno State.  Alexander Mattisson was the rusher and quarterback Brett Rypien took care of business on his end with 259 passing yards.

It took an incredible fourth quarter to take down the Bulldogs.  The Broncos outscored Fresno State 14-0 in that final quarter giving BSU a legitimate shot at the Mountain West Conference Championship.

BSU led Fresno State in the following areas...

  • Total Yards
  • Rushing Yards
  • First Downs
  • Third Down Conversions
  • Fewer Penalties

One final note.  Brett Rypien became the Mountain West's all-time passing leader in both yards and receptions.  Also... this is the first time BSU has beaten a ranked opponent in November EVER!
