Boise's newest pizza restaurant is part of a trend that's gaining steam in the Treasure Valley -- pouring our own beer.  They trust us with this idea?

Bru Taproom opened Friday, and it's designed with social interaction in mind.

The newest self-pour taphouse has more than 30 beers flowing in the taproom, and twenty-eight people can be in that room at any given time.  So you can chat with fellow beer drinkers and decide what you like based on their recommendations, and then pay by the ounce with a prepaid card.  And you can rate the beer and your answers will show up on the TVs at Bru while you sample an ounce or two or six, and then buy a pint of your fav.

The Idaho Statesman said all 28 taps of beer and two ciders are produced in Idaho, and most of the emphasis is on the Boise beer scene.  Oh, and the 14-inch pizzas cook lightning fast.  The oven is so smart and hot that the pie is done in two minutes and ten seconds.  Barely time to pour a beer.

Bru occupies the Downtown location of the former Jamba Juice, at 132 N. Eighth Street.  Hours are 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays, and 11 a.m. to midnight Fridays and Saturdays.  Check 'em out on Facebook too.

The new Flying Pie in Nampa and The Stockyard in Mountain Home have self-pour walls too, and it's part of a trend is catching on around the country this year.  The Treasure Valley is one of the areas leading the way.
