Is helping our environment worth a few extra dollars?  The City of Boise seems to think that trade off makes sense, as composting is coming (and will be costing a little more).

The City is launching the composting program in the hope that it will reduce the amount of waste brought into the Ada County Landfill.  City officials say that half of the homes impacted have already been notified of the change with the remaining early next month.

It's not a huge change as the average single family home should see charges go up between $8 and $9.  If residents opt into the composting program, that would provide a discount of $5 per month.  It would include an extra container for the compost items.
