East Valley Middle School administrators, teachers, and community members in Nampa are cross-checking cancer. They’ve started a floor hockey league, for a great cause.

Lisa Kerr is battling State 4 cancer and is mom to a Skyview high student.

The other half of the proceeds will go to Kylee Elmore's family, a Skyview High senior whose dad also has Stage 4 cancer.

The heroes who are making this happen have been putting together these hockey game fundraisers for three years now.  This is the sixth fundraiser they've held. All of the money goes to families going through a tough time in this tight-knit community.

They have raised over $10,000.

Another amazing story from right here in the Treasure Valley. I especially enjoy when these events involve kids and schools in the community. It teaches compassion and hopefully becomes something that they consciously think about and new ways to continue to help others.
