Boise is Represented in Monday’s Boston Marathon

The Boston Marathon has gotten so popular that almost 35-thousand runners applied this year, and they had to reject almost five thousand because they had maxed out.

There are several runners from Idaho that were lucky enough to get in, including more than twenty from Boise.

It's the 120th running of the Boston Marathon on Monday, and it gets started at 8:50am Eastern, or 6:50am our time if you want to check it out online.

Boise Weekly says 100 runners from Idaho will be part of the race today, and 25 of them are from Boise.  Two sisters from Meridian are running too.  They've all got a max of six hours to finish the 26.2 mile race.

Good luck Boise runners!  The first numbers listed here are the BIB number and the wave, or grouping, that they'll start with, according to the public info I dug up on the Boston Marathon website.

It's been three years since the bombing incident, and one of the survivors who lost a limb will be running the race.  Patrick Downes threw out the first pitch at Sunday’s Red Sox game, and after losing one leg in the attack, he'll become one of the first two bombing victims to come back and run the marathon on Monday.  His wife lost both legs, and she's been a big supporter as he gets back on track.

So many emotional stories will come from the race tomorrow.  And we'll have our fingers crossed the Idahoans to finish strong.
