The tragic nightclub shootings in Orlando has left organizers of Pridefest in Boise and local law enforcement working harder to make sure those who attend stay safe.
Organizers say these events are meant to celebrate the LGBT community, but since Sunday's shootings there has been a more somber tone.
There was an increased police presence Sunday at a vigil held at the Idaho Statehouse and plans to increase security during the parade this weekend.
Sgt. Steve Butler said,

“As we go forward we are going to monitor the situation, continue to network with the promoters to make sure that the plans that are in place keep everybody that plan to attend safe.”

He also says that the community's help will be important, and they can follow one simple rule.
“If you see something or you know something, say something to someone, report suspicious behavior or specific threats that you're aware of so that the police department can take that information and address it properly,” said Butler.
