My voice is still incredibly scratchy from watching the World Series Game 6 last night. Love those Cubs. Tonight's final game will crown a champion, and either way Boise has connection to the winners. Some of the best players of the series so far have made stops in the City of Trees before they moved on to the Big Leagues.

Several players from the Chicago Cubs as well as the Indians of Cleveland made minor league appearances with the Boise Hawks. Don't believe me, take a look at this list.

  1. OF Albert Almora (15 games in 2012)
  2. INF Javier Baez (2 games in 2011)
  3. 3B Kris Bryant (18 games in 2013)
  4. C Willson Contreras (124 games from 2011-2012)
  5. P John Lackey (15 games in 1999)
  6. DH Kyle Schwarber (5 games in 2014)

And OF Brandon Guyer (19 games in 2007) of the Indians.

What is so great about all of the players listed above is they got the chance to experience the big time love of the game in the Treasure Valley. Baseball is a universal sport and seeing this young fellas make their dreams come true and make it to the Big Show is inspiring. So who ever take the crown tonight....(cough) CUBS..the Boise Hawks have a part in it and it should be celebrated. My advice when the Hawks get playing again get your tickets and go to the ballpark because you never know when the next Kris Bryant will come through. - JD
