It felt familiar yesterday, sitting behind the fence and watching my kiddo take the field for little league. Spring season last year was his first, and he liked it enough to come back for more.

It was fun to see his growth last season, going from the true rookie who had skipped t-ball and moved right in with the kids who had been at it longer, to the kiddo who started to understand how the batting order worked.

His skills improved, his patience when things didn't go quite the way he wanted improved, and it was fun to see his social interaction and connection with his teammates and coaches grow too.

For that reason, I'm excited to see what his foray into "Fall Ball" will be like.  I'm guessing we will see a little frustration again, and some growth in how to overcome those things that don't go as planned.  A stronger swing, and maybe a little less distraction while playing Right Field would be fun to see as well.

If you have kids in your life, you know any sporting commitment means a lot of extra back-and-forth, complications to the schedule, and investment in gear and time.  Yet, it seems to me to be a worthy investment.

I'm happy he's found something that he feels connected to and excited to participate in.  It was even better that some kids from last year are part of this year's team too.
