Thanks to the Huffington Post here are a few marriage truths according to divorce attorneys.

"Marriage is more about tolerance than love".  "Give your spouse the benefit of the doubt".  Here's one that I've heard the complete opposite- "Put your spouse before your kids"  I've heard from many people, some very close friends included, that they will never put their spouse before the kids

Here's one that I tell my friends and even kids when they get into relationships.  " Know that you can't change your partner" You will never make them do something they don't want to do or change something about themselves that they don't already want to change and no matter how much nagging or complaining you do won't change them.

One of the other biggies that I think is totally true.  "When people show you who they are, believe them."  In other words a leopard can't change its spots or you can't teach a dog new tricks

I'm on my second marriage. My first marriage lasted 13 years and my 2nd is going on 14 years and here is my one piece of advice.  For cripes sake close the door when you go to the bathroom, especially if you taking a dump.  It's hard to think sexy thoughts of someone after seeing that and you can't un-see it.....good luck.
