Never judge a book by its cover. Or, in the case of Avril Lavigne, never judge a pop star by their meet and greet photo.

Over the weekend, Avril fans grew furious after seeing that 1989 superstar Taylor Swift "liked" a Tumblr post comparing Swift's fan interaction to that of other pop stars like Avril, as well as Britney Spears, Katy Perry and Kanye West.

"This is most Celeb's with Fans," the meme reads, complete with a bunch of stiff and distant-looking interactions between superstars and super-fans. "And this is Taylor..." it ends, featuring photos of Tay taking enthusiastic selfies and smooching a little boy on the cheek. Hmm...

When an Avril fan account tweeted about the shady "like" by Swift, the "Fly" singer saw the post and decided to step in with a response.

"Comparison is judging and judging a person does not define who they are it defines who you are. We all Love our fans," she tweeted.

"So let's keep it all about the love and stay positive," she continued in a second tweet, accompanied by two fan collages of the "Rock N Roll" singer meeting her fans.

Considering the way Taylor Swift uses her 1989 World Tour to celebrate the success of other acts like Little Mix and The Weeknd, it seems unusual that the singer-songwriter chose to make the move on Tumblr.

Perhaps Taylor didn't realize the post was meant to tear down other artists? Not sure, but it's clear that Avril did not take too kindly to the gesture.

What do you think of the comparison?
