It seems like the hotbed of construction these days in South East Boise hovers right along Broadway. The Broadway Bridge is in a state of complete repair and soon a local grocer will be getting an upgrade as well.

If you have spent any time on Broadway or even near Boise State you have noticed the Albertsons at the corner of Broadway and Beacon. I remember living directly behind it and walking down the alley to get milk and cereal on the weekends. This chain, started in the Treasure Valley by the late Joe Albertson will be doing a massive upgrade to there South East Boise location. The plans were drawn up in early June and construction will begin after August and pave way for a brand new look to the store, in a more fashionable sleek model. Really the closest comparison I can come up with is very Whole Foods, or Boise Co-Op style.

Not only will this new 2 story, very uptown change the parking spaces will be expanded as well. Currently the story has room for 155 cars after the remodel it will be capable to handle 198. The expansion in size of the store will be close to 2/3rds the size of the current store. Design elements from the original store on Vista from 1953 will also play in to the "New Look" Broadway store. Hey what ever look you are going for I'm still going to be happy to get my milk and cereal from you. Here is hoping to a good remodel. An upgrade for the residents of South East Boise for sure. - JD
