If you’re getting in the car and traveling this weekend, you won’t be alone. AAA says 34 million Americans will hit the road this weekend and Idaho expects 176,000 Idahoans to be driving somewhere over the holiday weekend.

AAA says all the state and U.S. highways will be busy. In particular, Highway 55, because it’s the route between the Treasure Valley and popular places like McCall and Cascade. Stanley, state parks, national forests and anywhere with a lake or reservoir will also be in high demand.

Even though gas prices have been climbing this month, Idaho drivers will still get a good deal at the pump. AAA Idaho spokesman, Dave Carlson, said “Idahoans will pay the lowest Memorial Day gas prices going back to 2009”.

Savings in gas money means more play money for your trip! Be careful if you are traveling this weekend and enjoy the time with your family and friends.
